Why New iPad Not Given a Name?

The new iPad has been introduced. Which is quite confusing, Apple just named it as the new iPad, there is no names such as iPad 3 or iPad HD according to previous predictions. What is the reason?

Apple so far has not explain it clearly. According to Apple Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing, Phil Schiller,  the name was chosen because "Apple doesn't want to be predictable,".

During a press conference about an hour performed by Apple CEO, Tim Cook, he's just call the new iPad as a 'new iPad'. Obviously, people were curious and confused.

"Come on Apple, give a name," wrote someone. "Is this the anonymous iPad?" wrote another.

"So this is the 'New iPad'. Is  next iPad generation will be called as the 'New New iPad?," Asked the New York Times technology writer, Nick Bilton. He considered Apple's decision is confusing.

Some parties judging about this name is not so important, and Apple has long been done it in other gadgets. For example, although a new generation are coming, Macs still called MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, or iMac.

"I think it's not a big deal. If you view the past, people did not like the iPad name when it first came out. But they can still sell it," writes Ina Fried, author of technology blog, AllThingsD.
