You may now have a personal doctor from the medical famous community, but for those who do not have a personal doctor, not to worry. A powerful smartphone can be your personal doctor which able to diagnose the disease only through a single drop of blood or saliva sample which placed on the screen.
According Dailymail, Thursday (2/2/2012), South Korean scientists which supported by local government has developed a new mobile-phone technology which is designed to diagnose disease. Remarkably, this technology can diagnose the disease only from drops of blood or saliva sample in the Smartphone touchscreen.
This technology was developed on the basis of touchscreen capabilities to detect electrical signals that generated by fingertips. This ability is called 'capacitive sensitivity'. A team at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology said, when the technology is commercialized, it will revolutionize diagnostic medicine around the world.
Professor Hyun-Gyu Park said, his team's research will allow the phone to diagnose various diseases from cancer to diabetic. He said, biomolecules, such as produced by the disease have been sending similar signals which can be recognized by touchscreen.
"If you have a specific type from DNA or protein, the touch screen will react the same way as an finger electrical signal which is detected," says Hyun Gyu.
The scientists team believe, the touchscreen can be used to detect biomolecules. However, other scientist, Byoung Yeon Won said that needs more work to do before the technology is perfected.
"Therefore, we produced a film which can selectively react to certain biomolecules, thus we can determine what to do with these biomolecules," he explained.
The technology is claimed can provide savings and efficiencies in the medical world, especially the International Telecommunications Union mention, billions of people worldwide have used their cell phone every day.
