Sony Ericsson Officially Change Name

Sony has completed the purchase of Sony Ericsson's name, and changed its name to Sony Mobile Commmunnications. The effort seems to be a part of the realization of new business strategies.

As reported by CNET, Thursday (2/16/2012), the purchase marks the end of the partnership between Sony and Ericsson that has lasted for 10 years. The partnership related to Sony electronics experience with telecommunications technology  Ericsson. Sony Ericsson, too late to recognize the emergence of a new generation of smartphones.

Reported by The NextWeb, previously, the last quarter Sony Ericsson is the most miserable, with a loss of U.S. $ 317 million, which caused difficulties to compete with the competitors smartphone. Sony itself recorded a loss of $ 2, 1 billion in the last quarter of their business, which mainly affected by the decline in sales of televisions and environmental disaster.

Now, through the purchase, Sony seems will realize a plan to unify the  electronic product line which equipped with an internet connection.

In a statement that announcing the closing of the deal said, the effort was targeted, "The unification of mobile phone business as a vital element of electronic business, in order to accelerate convergence between the rows of Sony electronics products which equipped with internet, including smart phones, tablet, TV, and PC."

The last major obstaclein the acquisition has been overcome last month, when the European Commission gave its approval to an agreement valued at $ 1, 47 billion, which was announced last October. Sony also took over ownership of mobile patents and received other patents through cross-licensing agreement with Ericsson.
