Apple iPhone Dominating U.S. Smartphone Sales

Market research firm, NPD has released an overview of smartphone industry in the United State at the fourth quarter yesterday.

During the three-month period, which included the launch of Apple iPhone 4S, this iOS platform getting the U.S. smartphone market share by 43%. The results also said that Apple iPhone 4S has step over Samsung and LG as the best selling smartphone brand.

5 best-selling smartphone during the last holiday season in the U.S. is Apple iPhone 4S, Apple iPhone 4, Apple iPhone 3G, Samsung Galaxy S II, and Samsung Galaxy S 4G.

As seen in the chart below, mostly users who first time using the smartphone prefer Android (57%) compared to iOS (34%) as well as when viewed in its entirety.


Android become a largest choice OS with a little difference with the iOS. Perhaps this is because freedom that granted, the choice of a variety of handsets, and Android supports LTE networks in the United State. A percentage of smartphone sales in the U.S. mobile phone market at 68%, up 18% from last year.
